Starting out in 2012, this quartet of Canadian artists have gone somewhat unnoticed in the large shadows of Mac Demarco and Real Estate during that time. But unfortunately some songs, albums, and even bands can get lost in the times. TOPS has enthusiastically been recording music nonstop since their debut and traveling the world with their lush and almost romantic sound.
“Sugar at the Gate” is their latest release and probably their most enthralling. The use of more prominent snare and cymbal create a cool melody you can always bob your head to and flow. TOPS definitely boasts a melancholy nature in their music but this album really puts an 80’s feel on their down tune, and it makes a groove you can’t resist.
